Introduction
In this blog post, I will embark on a reflective journey through my freshman year in web design and development. I will share insights, challenges, and growth experienced during this foundational year of my studies. Additionally, I will highlight key projects, concepts, or techniques that left a significant impression on my learning journey. This post aims to provide a personal perspective on the early stages of my web development education and celebrate my progress and accomplishments.
Beginning Of Freshman Year
What a journey it has been. I have gone through the ups and downs, low moments as well as high moments. This year has shaped me and has helped me create a strong foundation. I must admit I was very unsure and honestly still am on the career path I want to pursue. It is a very important decision which I do not want to take lightly. I do not want to end up regretting my decision. In all truthfulness the reason I have joined this shop is because of a coin flip and because of God’s will. Very first week I felt I had made the wrong choice. I decided to push through that feeling and continue on this path. I think one of the strongest aspects that kept me from quitting was definitely my friends. I quickly made good friends in the beginning and those friendships only got stronger. I am grateful for those friendships. I know I could not have been in the place where I am right now without them.
Challenges
The beginning was very confusing, I was completely new to this field with close to zero prior knowledge. The work was very different than what I was used to and I thought it was boring and time consuming. Yet I am grateful for the work we had done in the beginning, it helped me create a strong basis to further my education. These new coding concepts were tough to learn. Especially because I was not particularly sparked and interested in this field. I have come to like it and enjoy working hands on with coding projects.
Experiences
This year has been full of experiences. This was my first year in Highschool, new people, new teachers, new building, new friends, many new things. This path I embarked on was new, I had no intention of joining Web Development and Design until the end of our freshman rotation having spent time in all shops offered. I took all shops into consideration and came up with the final decision of Web Development and Design with Mr. Choate. This was not a light decision, I had to take in a lot of things into consideration, past, present and future events were going through my mind even just seconds before I pressed the submit button. I have learned so many new things since the day I first stepped foot in our classroom. We learned basics of HTML and CSS, we coded websites, wrote many blogs, and did testouts. I can not say these things came easy to me. I needed a lot of help to get my feet off the ground with this sort of work. I am thankful to have my teacher Mr. Choate, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as well as my peers and friends to help me along the way. I am sure what happened, happened for the best.
Conclusion
I am greatly thankful for the lessons I have learned throughout my freshman year in Web development and Design class, and not just the ones about coding. I realize I have come a long way when looking back at myself in the beginning of the school year. Gods will has brought me to this moment and so I know I am on the right path. Freshman year has been a year to remember and I am grateful for every moment of it.
